An Excel meeting agenda earns its place over a document when the times add themselves up: you type the meeting's start time and the minutes for each item, and a formula fills in when each item starts and when the meeting ends. Paste the table below into a blank worksheet, add the start time formula from step 3, format the Start column as a time, and set a print area so it prints on one page.

Tamarack Valley Credit Union and everyone named here are a fictional sample. The start times are what the formula in step 3 gives for a 9:00 AM start.

When to use this template
You plan a half-day workshop or planning session, and moving one item means working out every time after it again.
You want to see how long the agenda runs before you send it, not halfway through the meeting.
Your team plans in spreadsheets and already tracks follow-ups in an Excel action tracker.
Questions people ask
Why use Excel for an agenda instead of Word?
Because Excel adds up the times for you. That matters for long meetings with many items, or when you rearrange the agenda several times before sending it. For a short meeting with three topics, a document is simpler: use the general meeting agenda, which downloads as a Word file or pastes into Google Docs.
Can I save it as an Excel template?
Yes. Clear the example rows, then choose File > Export > Change File Type and double-click Template. Next time, choose File > New > Personal and double-click it to start a new workbook. If Personal doesn't appear, set a Default personal templates location under File > Options > Save first.
Does the formula work in Google Sheets?
Google Sheets has the same TIME(hour, minute, second) function, so =A7+TIME(0,B7,0) works the same way once you paste the table. To show the Start column as times, select it and use Format > Number > Custom date and time.
What if an item runs over during the meeting?
Type the real minutes into that row as you go, and every start time below it moves. You see straight away whether you can still finish on time or need to drop an item or move it to the next meeting.
