Questions

Questions people ask

What should meeting notes include?
The meeting name, date and attendees, the decisions made, action items with an owner and a due date, and any open questions. Key discussion points are useful when they explain a decision. A full record of who said what usually is not.
What is the difference between meeting notes and meeting minutes?
Notes are an informal working record for the people doing the work. Minutes are a formal record of decisions, usually approved at the next meeting, and are used by boards, committees and other groups that vote. Meeting notes vs minutes compares them, along with recaps and transcripts.
How soon should meeting notes be sent?
The same day. Notes sent a week later are a history document. Notes sent within a few hours still change what people do next. A short follow-up email after the meeting is an easy way to send them.
